Residents Attend “Kiss Me, Kate” Performance by Union Street Players

Union Street Players of Pella recently put on the play Kiss Me, Kate and residents of Vriendschap Village attended the performance, thoroughly enjoying the show. There were many local residents in the play that were friends and family of our residents.

Kiss Me, Kate was written by Samuel and Bella Spewack with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. This play was a raucous, ribald and naughty take on Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. It was the first show Porter wrote in which the music and lyrics were firmly connected to the script, and it proved to be his biggest hit and his only show to run for more than 1,000 performances on Broadway. It went on to be a successful film, has had seven Broadway and London revivals and will be revised again on Broadway in 2019.
