“How The Dutch Came To Pella”

Vriendschap Village residents were entertained by a delightful play that was written, directed and performed by ladies of the First Reformed Church of Pella. The play entitled “How The Dutch Came To Pella” was about the trials and history of the founding of Pella, Iowa.

Pella was founded in 1847 by 800 Dutch immigrants led by Henry Peter Scholte. Scholte and the other immigrants were fleeing famine and religious persecution at the hands of the state church of the Netherlands.

After the performance, the ladies stayed and joined us for a special coffee time. Thanks so much ladies for sharing your talent and we look forward to the next installment of the series!
