Members of the Covenant Reformed Church of Pella joined together with residents at Vriendschap Village for a hymn sing last night. There were some great chords and smiles to go around. After the hymn sing all were invited to stay, socialize and have refreshments.
Gary Geels, son of Vriendschap's own Nelson Geels, joined our residents after our monthly resident birthday and anniversary party to talk about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Kindergarten classes from Madison Elementary School came to Vriendschap Village today and sang several songs for our residents. After the performance, the children brought books and read to the residents. Everyone had a great time. Thanks so much to the kids and teachers for visiting us!

Wow, what a great Pella Tulip Time 2018 for the town and the residents, friends and staff of Vriendschap Village. We welcomed many visitors to our town and participated in all the events: the food, the street sweeping, the parades and all of the fun! We look forward to doing it again next year!

Vriendschap Village staff, residents and friends joined together to hold a Soup Supper with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association. For a free-will donation, those in attendance got a great meal and conversation, and entertainment by the Living Water Quartet. It was a great night! Thanks to all who participated and attended.

Vriendschap Village held it's August Resident Birthday and Anniversary Party on Wednesday. Residents were treated to birthday cake with ice cream and refreshments. We had some great entertainment by Don Joy and Melanie Lynn who specialize in country western duets. Thank you to all who attended and helped with the party!
Residents and staff traveled to Eldon, Iowa to visit the American Gothic House and Museum. There they learned about Grant Wood, the artist and more about the famous painting. The also bought items from the gift shop to remember the trip by. It was a great trip and wonderful memories were made.

Sounds of piano and accordion filled the air this week at Vriendschap Village thanks to the ladies of Notes in Harmony. The crowd clapped and sang along as they played familiar favorites and hymns.
A taste of Pella Tulip Time came early to Vriendschap Village this week when the Duchess and Dancers came to perform. The ladies entertained our residents showing them various Dutch dances and then telling about their history. After the presentation residents were treated to special Tulip Cookies. Several of our residents attended the SWE Variety Show in the Upper Chapel at Central College in Pella. SWE members and favorite professors performed different acts throughout the show. The acts ranged from instrumental ensembles, singing, trivia and dancing. Several residents participated in learning a new dance from one of the acts.
