This month we journeyed to Boone, Iowa for a visit to the Scenic Valley Railroad! We fueled up with a hearty lunch at a lovely buffet before taking a long ride through the Iowa countryside. Once reaching our destination at the railroad museum, we were eager to learn about the history of trains before climbing on board for a ride. There were so many interesting facts to learn and historical memorabilia to see as we enjoyed all the museum had to offer.
ALL ABOARD! After climbing into the coach car, we were ready to set out on our adventure! As we rode along we took in all the beautiful sights and scenery of Iowa’s landscape – high above the tree tops, down low by the river, and even over the Bass Point Creek High Bridge. We were intrigued to learn that it is the tallest single-track interurban railroad bridge in the United States, measuring in at an astonishing 156′ tall!
Everyone had so much fun, and the weather was perfect for a daytime adventure! Who knows where we will go next!?
