Art Class: Farm Fair Fun

Vriendschap residents helped create wooden barnyard animals. They created pigs, cows, sheep, chickens and even Farmer Brown. It was great fun!

2nd-Annual Vriendschap Fair A Success

Vriendschap Village brought the fair to our residents. We had tractors provided by Red Rock Threshers and several resident families, carnival games, blue ribbon events (items brought by residents such as handcrafts, woodwork and baked goods), animals brought by local FFA kids, contests including rubber-chicken throwing, wheel-chair obstacle course and a pie eating contest. Heartland Reformed Church hosted Gospel Quartets

Residents traveled to Heartland Reformed Church in Pella to hear gospel music from three area quartets: Heading Home, Living Water and Sharon Bethel Quartet.

Trip to Neil Smith Nature Center and Ice Cream Outing to Goldies

We had a full bus of residents as we headed to the Neil Smith Nature Center in Prairie City. We had a great time learning in the nature center and we were able to see a bison on the plain. We then head to Goldies for some ice cream ……yum!

Vriendschap Village Remodel Places Fourth Nationally

Vriendschap Village placed fourth in the 8th Annual Environments for Aging Remodel/Renovation Competition. The renovation of the Independent Living common areas, dining room, and entrance sought to merge the previously separated Independent Living and Assisted Living residents. American Gothic House and Museum Outing

Residents and staff traveled to Eldon, Iowa to visit the American Gothic House and Museum. There they learned about Grant Wood, the artist and more about the famous painting. The also bought items from the gift shop to remember the trip by. It was a great trip and wonderful memories were made.
